Carpet Pythons - Are Medium snakes, getting a little longer although significantly more active than than your typical Ball Python.
They are intelligent, beautiful, an highly interactive. They will be seen cruising their enclosure, including perching behaviour - depending on their locality.
Once socialized they'll suitably interact with you, also staying Calm an trusting. this is evident as they'll reduce their threat displaying/defensive behavior.
Please, do not fear Bites, Honestly, a cat bite causes a more damage!
Depending on the Locality, these sizes vary. Although, Mine do not get to say 12ft and above!
Most people, may not realize, that they get a size people can handle and manage rather comfortably, even as adults...
I would suggest a baby/young snake, as you raise your baby, you grow with them as they grow with you.
An attractive fact about these beautiful Snakes: They are visible thorough the day, they will be seen displaying natural behaviour including curiosity within their environment and will often be seen cruising and Perching.
They are nocturnal in behavior.
Also, they learn to trust fairly quickly and are a joy to raise.
They come in a range of sizes, and colors the smallest being around that of an adult corn snake.
One hatched, they're about the size of a pencil.
Your baby, will be around this size, maybe bigger depending on their age, an how well they're established.
You can clearly see a baby perched upon my finger within a photo.
Research is so important, I honestly can not stress this enough!
I am not a Perfect person, by any means. Nor do I claim to know everything their is to know.
Theirs always advancements, new ways to learn, with this comes greater learning opportunities. I'd strive to ensure satisfactory service tailored on an individuals needs.
You need to be sure this animal is right for you, I'm more than happy to help you with this most important decision, ensuring you are capable to care and cater for them adequately at their adult size.
Males may display sexual diamorphism
(potentially being smaller).

Once they learn to trust, through being respectfully handled they are no longer fearful and tend to stay that way. I get them started with socialization and working out their fear response, as soon as they are have their first shed, An readily accepting food.
They are not "aggressive" as sadly portraying as such, through uneducated Media hype!
They are in fact "defensive" This is displayed a fear response - They want to get away, you could sympathetically state this their "flight or fight" response. Their first Form of defense is always Escape/Slither away, They may also "musk". This is when they release a foul smelling secretion from their musk glands, deterring predators in order to escape.
You are a giant in comparison.
Some may bite in defense too, imagine you had no arm's or legs, to defend yourself, all you had where teeth to defend yourself.
Their teeth are so tiny, this is similar to accidentally stabbing you're finger with a needle.
With My regular training and socializing methods with the neos. I do my best to work this out of them for you, for the duration they are with me. Instead I teach them to trust, and not be fearful of people.
As baby's they do not understand this, an are acting purely on instinct, as a baby Carpet they are often pray, so display such defensive behavior.
So, I'd o work on each baby on a per individual basis, as needed, to minimize this fear response. In turn, building the basis for trusting bonds. Some are more accepting and perceptible, than other individuals.
Exhibited behaviors inclusive but not limiting to: Bolting, twitchy, musking. readily to escape as fast as possible, this is purely just because they are scared.
This can be easily be overcome, an trusting bond' is ensued, via gentle handling, they do calm down.
Of course not!

FUN FACT:
They are known for their "ontogenetic color change" lets say they'd start out out as a brown color, and tend to burst into color as they grow.
Examples... Can be seen on, "Previous paring's" I'v created a small, although informative page documenting this.
Depending on the Genetics, this can be Vastly dramatic!
Again these are Known as Medium bodied, But tend to be shorter and more stoutly built than Carpet Pythons.. They are a little bigger than an adult female adult Ball Pythons. they can become as tame as the too... At least mine have been, up to date.
Although Females May appear Larger, as they tend to carry more Girth. AS with anything, their maybe exceptions.
Males; tend to be comparable to that of an adult corn snake. So depending on what you are most comfortable with, I can surely help you with a size you would be most comfortable with.
For their size, they are impressive!
Rightly so, their size is not so big, as to be intimidating, and get to an overwhelming & unmanageable size.
they tend to be intermediate snakes, Although, due their Placid nature would be suitable to newer owners, once these would demand a high price and are sometimes referred to as "Australasian Gold" Due to their Coloration and scarcity. These are Endangered/Critically endangered CITES Rd listed animals after all.
My pair, I spent 7 years, to locate & obtain an unrelated pair, that did not come from un-trusting backgrounds/people!
I've had them a few years now, and only decided to pair them, they are extremely established Captive Produced, not Wild caught or Farmed F1 generation.
Being Endangered, illegally obtained wild caught, is severely distributive to their already declining wild counterpart population.
Also, usually favoring endoparasitic issues.
These are such majestic and underrated animals.
Established Captive's, they're practically Bomb proof and very resilient to Human Error, This being the deciding factor between being suitable for Novice to more intermediate keepers alike... As long as they are kept dry. They do well on a variety of substrates too. They need to be kept warm and dry, naturally their habitat is arid, so can cope well with a more naturalistic substrate that supports their burrowing behavior.
* The Female Woma - Is around the size of a ball python, But More girth to her.
* The Male, Is smaller in Girth and than a corn snake.
Mine, are especially Placid, and have not yet attempted to bite. Iv'e personally find, my individuals have stayed placid.
They can have an exited food response.- This can be mistaken as aggression:- It really is not.
So, I would always suggest, ensuring the animal knows they are not being fed, this is why I "hook Train" babies. This (over time) cancels out their feeding response, being opportunistic feeders. They learn, fairly quickly, to differentiate feeding time form any other interactions.
FUN FACT'S:
*They are ridiculously cute!
* They Love to burrow! An will Readily "dig" out a burrow and make a Pit with their "shovel" shaped snout.
* Due to habitat destruction and unsuccessful conservation efforts, This had greatly aided in the decline of their their wild counterparts.
Unfortunately these have greatly failed. Due to these often falling Pray to other native snake eating snakes.
Sadly this is supporting their steady decline, and resulting, in them, becoming endangered in their native habitat, In some places, endorsing, being Critically endangered.
This will be one of those animals, that sadly without, breeding efforts they would surly decline into possible extinction.
* Also they are void of any "Heat Pits" those indentations that Morelia and other Pythons posses- sometimes mistaken for "teeth", the heat pits are to pick up on, heat signatures of pray.
* Their only other Cousin this this Genus is the "Black headed Python" These are not in decline an get significantly Larger! I do not own these, but have had limited interactions with these incredibly Impressive sized Cousins. BHP Is not a snake To be recommended to a Novice or new keeper, due to their obtainable sizes.
The Woma, Gets nowhere near the size of these.
